Flipped · Rotated 180°
Upside down text generator
Type normally and get the same words turned upside down, ready to paste anywhere text goes. Each letter is swapped for a rotated look-alike and the order is reversed, so it reads correctly when the screen flips.

How upside down text works
Unicode has no “rotate” setting, so the generator swaps each letter for a character that already looks turned over: ɐ for a, ǝ for e, ʎ for y, ∀ for A. Then it reverses the whole line, because flipping a phrase also moves its last letter to the front.
Some characters are symmetrical and stay as they are, including o, s, x, z, H, I, N, O, S, X, Z, 0 and 8. Punctuation turns too: ? becomes ¿, ! becomes ¡, and brackets swap sides so they still wrap the right words.
Capitals are the hardest part. Unicode only has true turned forms for a few of them (Ⅎ, ⅁, ⅄, Ʞ), so the rest borrow look-alikes from maths and other alphabets, such as ∀, Ǝ and Ԁ. They read well in most apps, though a few can look slightly off in some fonts. For the most reliable result, flip lowercase text.
Frequently asked questions
How do I type upside down text on my phone?+
Type or paste your words into the generator above, tap the flipped result to copy it, then paste it into your app. Phone keyboards have no upside down mode, so copying from here is the quickest way.
Why does my flipped text start with the last word?+
That's the reverse step doing its job. When you turn a line of text over, its end lands on the left, so the generator reverses the order as well as flipping each letter. Turn your screen around and it reads normally.
Where does upside down text work?+
Anywhere that accepts plain text: Instagram and TikTok bios and comments, Discord, WhatsApp, iMessage, X and most game chats. It is made of ordinary Unicode characters rather than an image, so it pastes like normal text. If an app's font is missing a character it shows a box (□) instead; lowercase letters are the most widely supported.
Is upside down text the same as mirror text?+
No. Upside down text is rotated 180°, so it reads normally when the screen is turned over. Mirror text is flipped left to right, as if seen in a mirror, and still reads upright.
Can screen readers read upside down text?+
Not well. Screen readers announce the replacement characters by their own names or skip them, so the message gets lost. Use flipped text for jokes, names and decoration, and keep anything important in plain text.
