Need it for a thumbnail, a stream overlay or a poster? This makes a picture instead of text: the letters split into red and cyan channels, bands of the image slip sideways and CRT scanlines run across it. Download it as a PNG with a dark or transparent background.

How glitch text works

There is no glitch font. The effect is built from ordinary Unicode characters, which is why it survives copy and paste. Most styles add combining marks, the characters languages use for accents, to each letter. Stack a handful above, below or through a letter and it starts to look like a broken signal.

The Corrupted style works differently. It swaps some letters for real letters that carry a bar, hook or stroke, such as ø, ł, ŧ and ƒ, then sprinkles in a few marks and shade blocks (░ ▒ ▓). It reads like damaged text but stays shorter and more legible than Zalgo.

Which glitch style to use

  • Names, bios and gamertags

Light glitch or Corrupted at a low level. Short, readable and less likely to break character limits.

  • Horror posts and spooky captions

Creepy rising or dripping. One-directional marks look deliberate rather than messy.

  • Error messages and ‘hacked’ jokes

Scratched or Corrupted. Strokes and broken letters read as a damaged file.

  • Maximum chaos

Full meltdown at 100%. Expect it to spill over neighboring lines in most apps.

Glitch text questions

How do I copy and paste glitch text?+

Type your words in the box, pick the style you like, and tap its card. The glitched version is copied to your clipboard, ready to paste into a bio, a username field, a chat or a document. What you see in the preview is exactly what gets copied.

Is glitch text the same as Zalgo or cursed text?+

Zalgo is one kind of glitch text: combining marks piled above and below every letter. This page adds lighter and stranger variations, such as swapped broken-looking letters, strokes through the text and marks on one side only, plus a glitch-art image maker. The cursed text generator focuses on classic Zalgo with strikethrough, crossed-out and upside down styles.

Why does the glitch look different after I paste it?+

Each app draws combining marks with its own fonts. Some squash tall stacks, some cap how many marks a letter can carry, and a few strip them out. If a heavy style turns into a mess somewhere, lower the glitch level or switch to Light glitch or Corrupted, which use fewer marks.

Why is my glitch text over the character limit?+

Every combining mark is a character of its own, so one glitched letter can count as ten or more. Bios and usernames with strict limits fill up fast. Use a lower glitch level or the Corrupted style, which mostly swaps letters rather than adding marks.

What does Re-roll noise do?+

The noise is random but repeatable: the same text and settings always give the same result, so your copy matches the preview. Re-roll picks a fresh random pattern for the same text when you want a different look.

Can screen readers read glitch text?+

Poorly. Screen readers may announce every mark or the name of each swapped letter, which makes the message hard to follow. Keep important information in plain text and use glitch text for names, titles and decoration.
